Maria Caldararu, from Romania is not long out of nappies but shes already engaged to her tiny fianc six-year-old Victor. Last year, when Maria was just three, Victors grandfather and great uncle, arranged the marriage and a traditional ceremony was held to betroth the tots for the rest of their lives. The childhood sweethearts are Caldarari gypsies from the Sibiu region of Transylvania where its common for children to be engaged and married at extremely young ages. The tradition is not illegal but mostly frowned upon by mainstream Romanian society.
