Crisis Communications “Pulse Nightclub Shooting”, Jacksonville FL, United States.

On June 12, 2016, a 29-year-old security guard, killed 49 people and wounded 53 others in a terrorist attack/hate crime inside Pulse, a nightclub in Orlando, Florida. He was shot and killed by police after a three-hour standoff. It was the deadliest mass shooting by a single shooter in United States history. It was also the deadliest terrorist attack in the United States since the September 11 attacks in 2001. Responding to this horrific scene involved hundreds of first responders as well as public information officers (PIOs) from several agencies who facilitated information to the media and the public.

Join the Florida Public Relations Association Jacksonville Chapter on Thursday, January 12 to hear from Carrie Proudfit and Ann Marie Varga, two of those PIOs who assisted in this tragedy, handling crisis communications around the clock with hundreds of media representatives from around the world.
