Seminar – Placing Religion and Sexuality in Conversation not Conflict

Thursday 12 June 2025, 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm BST, Bristol, UK

Recent legal disputes suggest an increasing pattern of ‘conflict’ or ‘competition’ between the protected characteristics of religion or belief and sexual orientation. But what should the freedom to be – and its limits – involve?

Explore this question with us at our in-person event and discover how researchers and activists from around the world navigate the balance between protected characteristics of religion/belief and sexual orientation. Our goal is to consider how life is lived at this intersection, and the ways that communities are advocating for change and solutions.

This event has been made possible by a generous grant from the Zutshi-Smith Fund, University of Bristol.
