Virtual Lecture – Making the Law Work for Women: Solutions to Extreme Misogyny

Friday 8 November 2023, 6:30pm – 7:30 pm GMT, online (UK)

Our annual Tom Sargant Memorial Lecture 2023 will take place over Zoom at 6:30pm on 8 November 2023.

This year’s lecture is entitled Making the law work for women: Solutions to extreme misogyny, and will be delivered by Dr Ann Olivarius KC (Hon) OBE

Dr. Ann Olivarius KC (Hon) OBE is Chair of the Executive Committee of McAllister Olivarius, an international law firm specializing in cases of sexual misconduct and discrimination.

As a campaigner she has had a significant influence on the laws of England and Wales, from lobbying Parliament to pass criminal laws against non-consensual pornography to helping push the landmark UK Domestic Abuse Bill. She has also been among the most influential figures in changing the way in which UK universities respond to students who have been sexually harassed or assaulted.

As a practicing lawyer, she has achieved landmark settlements for survivors of abuse, including bringing the first ever civil claim against the Jehovah’s Witnesses for child abuse, and the first civil case over non-consensual pornography in England and Wales.
