Erasing Hate Talk (New York, USA)

Thursday 7 November 2019, 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm EST, New York, USA

A State University of New York (SUNY) Thought Leaders Event featuring a conversation with activists Judy and Dennis Shepard, parents of Matthew Shepard.

In 1998, Matthew Shepard’s death rocked the nation. Matthew’s parents, Judy and Dennis Shepard, in the face of their own grief, helped lead the fight to change minds and change laws to protect LGBTQ people. In 2019, with landmark decisions on equality before the U.S. Supreme Court and an unprecedented attempt to roll back hard-fought rights on both the state and national level, SUNY Chancellor Kristina M. Johnson will join Judy and Dennis Shepard at SUNY’s 1st “Thought Leaders” event for a personal and impactful conversation about Matthew’s legacy, how far we’ve come, and all we stand to lose.
