National Hate Crime Awareness Week 2014 Launch Event #HCAW14

Organised by 17-24-30 in partnership with Stop Hate UK, this event marks the launch of the National Hate Crme Awareness Week 2014. This short service includes:

  • Arrival choir music
  • Welcome speech by St Paul’s Cathedral
  • Speech by Mark Healey (17-24-30) and Rose Simkins (Stop Hate UK)
  • Lighting of National Candle of Hope and Remembrance for those affected by hate crime by Sylvia Lancaster
  • Choir music during community lighting of candles
  • Speech by Sylvia Lancaster, S.O.P.H.I.E. Lancaster Foundation
  • Blessing by St Paul’s Cathedral
  • Retiring Collection in aid of S.O.P.H.I.E. Lancaster Foundation
  • Departing choir music.

The first National Hate Crime Awareness Week was organised by Mark Healey in October 2012 and is now in its third year. The aim of the week is to provide a focus for local authorities, their partners and local community groups and organisations to organise and promote a wide range of events with the purpose of raising public awareness of hate crime whilst promoting local provision for those affected by hate crime.
