Tackling Hate Crime in the Workplace Seminar

Monday 30 March 2020, 9:30-15:30 BST, Manchester, UK

Hate crime is on the increase. There has been a 10% increase in the number of hate crimes reported since 2017 and 1 in 3 people will experience hate crime at some point in their lives.

How do we currently deal with hate crime in the workplace? Do our members have the courage to speak out? Do employers provide a safe environment for tackling hate crime? Do employers understand what hate crime is? We need to take a stand together to end hate crime, starting by driving it out of our workplaces.

The seminar aims to provide a safe space for activists to have discussions to improve confidence in speaking out, raise issues and challenge behaviours within our workplaces.

This seminar aims to cover topics such as:

  • How to address and challenge increases in racism
  • How has the changing political climate increased the challenges for EU workers?
  • How can we tackle the challenges facing the LGBT+ community and the disabled community?
  • What is meant by misogyny as a hate crime?
  • The power of social media – a positive or negative force in tackling hate crime?
