Webinar – Dual Hate: Antisemitism, Misogyny, and What We Can Do About It

Thursday 2 December 2021, 9:00 am – 10:00 am GMT, online (UK)

Hatred does not always operate in silos. It spreads and overlaps – increasingly so in our digital age. In this session, Danny Stone will explain how antisemitism, racism against Jews, and misogyny connect and explain both the origins of these dual hatreds, the ways in which they manifest today, with a particular focus on online harm, and some suggestions as to what we might do about it all.

Speaker: Danny Stone MBE; Facilitator: Dame Louise Ellman DBE

Danny Stone MBE is the Chief Executive of the Antisemitism Policy Unit and has led efforts to address antisemitism for over a decade. Before taking up his role, Danny was a senior lobbyist for the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, an advisor to a Member of the British Parliament, and a Student Union Campaigns Organiser. Danny has degrees from Nottingham and from Birkbeck, University of London in Government, Politics and Public Policy. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, with a Diploma in Public Relations. Danny has extensive youth leadership experience and is a trustee of the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust. He was awarded an MBE in the 2017 New Year’s Honours list for services to combating hate crime.

In 2018 he hosted the Sara Conference, the first-ever conference on the intersectional abuse of Jewish women.

Dame Louise Ellman DBE was first elected to the House of Commons in 1997 and served as Labour and Co-operative Member of Parliament for Liverpool, Riverside until the 2019 General Election. Dame Louise was previously Leader of Lancashire County Council from 1981 to 1997. As an MP for one the UK’s most deprived areas, Dame Louise focused on urban regeneration and social inclusion during her time in the Commons and was Chair of the Transport Committee, an officer of the All-Party Parliamentary Group Against Antisemitism and of Labour Friends of Israel.
