Community Discussion on Hate and Bias Crimes

In honor of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week the Durham Police Department, with support from North Carolina Central Universtiy, will hold a panel discussion on Hate Crimes. The topics covered will include personal experiences, legal concerns and strategies to combat hate. Confirmed panelists are Ames Simmons, Director of Transgender Policy at Equality NC, Elizar Posada, Community Engagement, and Advocacy Manager at El Centro Hispano and Marcia Morey, State Representative representing Durham, North Carolina. There will also be an open discussion when attendees can talk about personal experiences and ask questions to the panelist.
