Discussion – Beyond the Screen: Exploring the Digital Society

Thursday 20 July 2023, 9:00 am – 5:30 pm BST, York, UK

We are living through an extraordinary period of technological development. From social connectivity to the rapid growth of artificial intelligence, society is experiencing a digital transition experience. As researchers, we are driven by the need to explore and make sense of social changes that emerge as a result of it.

The Department of Sociology is excited to announce our upcoming PGR annual conference, ‘Beyond the Screen: Exploring the Digital Society’, an interdisciplinary discussion on the social implications of digital technologies, and their implementation in research. We are delighted to present the keynote address of Professor David Beer, and Dr Jennifer Chubb, both from the Department of Sociology at the University of York.

Join us for an engaging and thought-provoking experience and networking. A fascinating day discussing a range of topics examining a digitalised society. We look forward to seeing you there!

FORMAT: In-person event. Refreshments and lunch will be provided free of charge to all attendees and speakers.

ACCESSIBILITY: The venue is wheelchair accessible and has an induction loop hearing system available.
