Hate Crime Awareness – Remembering Srebrenica

In recognition of Manchester ‘Hate Crime Awareness Week’ MMU is pleased to host a talk by Rešad Trbonja. Rešad was just 19 when the war in Bosnia broke out. He spent the following four years in Sarajevo living through the longest siege in modern history whilst working to provide food for his family. He has recently finished a Masters in Criminology and he now works for ‘Remembering Srebrenica’, helping others learn from the Srebrenica genocide’s legacy. He speaks about his own experiences, the wider conflict in Bosnia–Herzegovina, and the consequences of hatred when left unchallenged.
