Virtual Hate Crime Awareness Session for Public Service Workers in Wales

UNISON Cymru Wales is delighted to introduce this two-hour awareness session into our programme of free webinars for the first time.

UNISON is committed to promoting equality in our workplaces and our communities, making Wales a fairer, safer and more inclusive country, and actively challenging racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia and religious discrimination in all its forms.

Who will benefit from this course:

Anyone living in Wales and/or working in Welsh public services, front-line workers in NHS, local authorities and schools, people who have experienced hate including hate crimes, potential witnesses to hate. Union Workplace reps, Health & safety Reps, ULRs, HR managers, team leaders and line managers.

The course enables attendees to:-

  • Understand hate crime and sub-criminal hate and its impacts
  • Recognise how and why people experience hate online and offline
  • Be aware of the 5 protected characteristics of hate crime and how these differ from those in the Equality Act 2010
  • Know the correct reporting routes and the practical and emotional support available to those who experience hate
  • Access further training opportunities with Victim Support and UNISON

Your Tutor

Noah Nyle is a Hate Crime Training and Engagement Officer with the Wales Hate Support Centre, a Welsh Government funded service delivered by the charity Victim Support.
