Hate Crime: Cause and Effect seminar

The Equality and Diversity Forum & University of Sussex, School of Law, Politics & Sociology, in association with the International Network for Hate Studies.

Hate crime is a key priority at EDF in the context of Brexit.  EDF’s focus is on ensuring cutting edge research is effectively shared and synthesised to enable maximum impact on practitioner interventions and policy.  EDF is a network of some 80 NGOs working on equality, human rights and social justice issues, including a Research Network of academics and researchers engaged in these issues.  The participants will be NGOs, academics, funders and policy-makers.

Topics and speakers include:

  • Online and offline hate crime, Dr Susann Wiedlitzka, University of Sussex, & Josh Smith, Demos;
  • Community impacts of hate crime, Dr Jennifer Paterson, University of Sussex;
  • Government action, Paul Giannasi, Head of Cross-Government Hate Crime Programme, DCLG
