Information gathering session with the United Nations Special Rapporteur on contemporary forms of racism

The United Nations Special Rapporteur on contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance, Ms. E. Tendayi Achiume, will undertake an official country visit to the UK from 30 April to 11 May 2018 at the invitation of the Government.

The Special Rapporteur would like to invite interested stakeholders, including civil society organisations and community members/representatives, to a joint consultation aimed at gathering information on the various issues falling within her mandate. Topics of discussion include policing and administration of justice; access to economic, social and cultural rights; Populism, Brexit and hate speech/crimes; discrimination against non-citizens and other groups in vulnerable situations; and intersecting forms of discrimination. The Special Rapporteur especially welcomes youth participation and participation of women, in this event, in addition to the participation of all relevant civil society and community members/representatives.
