Online Workshop – Moving Beyond Hate: Tools and Strategies for Community Response

Thursday 21 October 2021, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm MDT, online (Canada)

Participants of this workshop will gain a full understanding of how hate functions in Canada. This workshop will guide participants through the legislation and prosecution of crimes motivated by hate, as well as develop understanding on how to identify the differences between crimes and incidents motivated by hate.

Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the historical context and implications of hate, as well as provide them with perspective and a strengthening of cultural awareness. This workshop will also provide awareness of existing supports available to community and highlight where gaps exist in services.

The Moving Beyond Hate workshop provides communities skills, tools, and strategies to assist in planning and implementing a community-based response to hate.

This workshop is a collaborative effort between the Alberta Hate Crimes Committee and John Humphrey Centre for Peace and Human Rights.
