Recognising and Responding to Hate Crime 10/10/17

This half day training session is part of Glasgow’s Hate Crime Awareness Week. It is open to staff and volunteers who have contact with service users that experience harassment, violence and abuse based on prejudice. It will help participants to understand the fundamental components of hate crime, how it is defined in policy and law and the role of organisations in responding to hate crime.

Delivered jointly by Police Scotland and Community Safety Glasgow, this training has been successfully running since 2010 and is consistently evaluated highly by participants.

By the end of the session participants will be able to

  • Define hate crime
  • Name the forms of prejudice covered under Scottish Criminal Legislation
  • Identify why Third Party Reporting is necessary
  • Understand their role in responding to hate crime
  • Locate and complete the Police Scotland online hate crime reporting form
